Everyone will ooh and ahh when you show off your finished “FLOWERS IN BUTTERCREAM” cake to family and friends! Students will learn to create six Italian Meringue Buttercream (IMBC) flowers and related foliage. The intricate flowers that will be covered in this class include popular wedding flowers such as bright and cheery ranunculus. Students will expand their knowledge of color theory and build on their cake finishing skills in this intermediate-level class. Please eat the flowers!
STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
- How to apply the three essentials of cake decorating to flower making skills
- How to use rose nail as a “turntable” for flower making.
- How to maintain the correct texture and temperature of Italian Meringue Buttercream (IMBC) for piping and applying the IMBC flowers.
- How to combine colors to mimic real flowers.
- How to attach buttercream flowers to the cake for a realistic look.
- How to create color highlights on the side of the cake with the IMBC.
- How to pipe six intricate IMBC flowers that replicate nature.
- Students will fill and ice a two-layer cake attaining a smooth commercial-like finish as backdrop for floral design
