DESCRIPTION

This class teaches students at least 16 methods to create stunning design effects using rolled fondant. Students will create technique tiles to take home and use as inspiration for their cake art. Fondant techniques that will be introduced include ruffles, lace, quilting, pleating, swags, layering textures, stained glass effect, and more.
Included in this fast-paced challenging course is a lesson on how to prepare your own fondant which can help you become a self-sufficient decorator and ensure you have enough material for your projects.
Students will be supplied with the foamcore tiles on which fondant work is to be displayed and will be given home assignments prior to Wednesday and Friday classes.
This class is a prerequisite for Intermediate Fondant Part B.

- How to calibrate and attain desired fondant thickness.
- How to create 3D effects.
- How to make your own fondant and the pros and cons of commercially made fondant.
- How to use royal icing on fondant.
- How and when to use an airbrush on fondant.
- How to use molds and texture mats.
- How to layer textures to create design depth.
- How to use various dusts to create assorted painted effects.
- How to create and use various edible adhesives to attach fondant to fondant surfaces.
