If you’re making a cake for a special occasion or that special someone, wouldn’t it be great to pipe some butter cream hearts onto it? Show your sweetheart you care with cake art that tastes as good as it looks. They’ll think you had it made professionally or took hours to decorate it yourself, but all it takes is a few minutes to take your cake from average to amazing. Whether you just want a few or you want to cover your whole cake, they’re quick and easy and look great.

These hearts are quick and easy and a great way to spruce up any plain cake. They’re cute, fun and add some whimsical cake art. There are plenty of ways to use these hearts to decorate your cakes. Here are just a few:

  1. Heart border – if you’re thinking your cake is just a little bit too plain, give it a quick and easy heart border! It looks great and it doesn’t take much time. Pipe hearts all along the bottom of the cake to give it that little extra something to make it pop.
  2. Valentine’s Day – baking a cake for your sweetie on Valentine’s Day? Pipe some butter cream hearts on there to show your love. They’ll think you spent hours on the cake art—they don’t need to know how easy it really is!
  3. Anniversaries – on that special day, your special someone should get a special cake. Pipe hearts onto the sides or top of the cake, wherever you want, to make your cake stand out and look really amazing.

You can use piped butter cream hearts to turn any plain cake into a work of art. Your cake will look professional when you’ve finished with these hearts, but you don’t have to be an expert to make them. Use tips from a professional to take your beginners’ skills to the next level. It’s easier than you think to pipe fun butter cream hearts and take your cake from flat to fabulous. Just follow these simple steps and you’ll be creating beautiful cakes with professional-looking piped hearts.

  1. Start with an iced cake on top of a cake stand. Get a clean turntable and place your cake stand on top of it. This will make your decorating much easier, as you can rotate the turntable instead of moving the whole cake stand or having to move around.
  2. You’ll want to use a 12-inch pastry bag and a circular tip of whatever size you wish—the bigger the tip, the bigger your hearts will be.
  3. Start your heart by pressing your tip down where you want the middle of your heart to be. Use a lot of pressure at the start, and release the pressure as you move down toward the tip of the heart. Be sure to create the shape of half a heart while you are pressing and releasing—move inward as you release the pressure and move down toward the tip. Do the same thing to make the other side of the heart.
